An inertial surveying system with embedded SAASM GPS, built to meet demanding U.S. Army and Marine Corps survey needs — high-precision common survey for efficient mass fires across MLRS, HIMARS, Firefinder, Paladin, and long-range air surveillance radar.
An inertial surveying system built for demanding international military survey needs — proven, reliable, and lightweight, with SAASM GPS available as an option for GPS-aided accuracy.

The Compact Position/Navigation Unit (CPNU) — a three-axis strap-down inertial navigation system built around ring laser gyros and high-grade accelerometers — is the core of IPADS, paired with a ruggedized Control and Display Unit (CDU), Battery and Charger Unit (BCU), and Porro Prism Assembly (PPA) for 24-meter offset survey. All components mount in a single robust frame for easy access and rapid two-person live transfer between vehicles.
An embedded SAASM GPS receiver is standard in the CPNU.
An embedded SAASM GPS receiver is available as an option in the CPNU.
Survey operations functionality, navigational accuracy, transportability, survivability, and affordability requirements drove the IPADS system design — offering a proven, reliable, lightweight, off-the-shelf solution.
IPADS establishes the survey control points and orienting lines that initialize and align weapon systems before mass fires.
The compact CPNU at the core of IPADS-G is the same proven navigation system used on MLRS and HIMARS, sharing architecture and components with Firefinder and Paladin fire control and long-range air surveillance radar.
The compact CPNU at the core of IPADS-I is the same proven navigation system used on the Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) and High-Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) programs.
