The Hardware

One self-contained unit

A single sealed housing pairs high-performance RLG-34 ring laser gyros with a SAASM-capable GPS receiver and odometer aiding, delivering precision pointing and position location without external electronics boxes to integrate. Embedded built-in test and no periodic calibration requirement keep it combat-ready with minimal support burden.

Key Performance Features

Built for combat-proven precision

Equipped with more than 30 years of direct experience aiming and navigating MLRS and HIMARS launchers, the PNU / UPNU family delivers a true state-of-the-art system approach — combat-proven and engineered for reliable, low-maintenance service in the field.

01

RLG-34 Ring Laser Gyros

High-performance inertial sensing for precision pointing and position location without external aiding.

02

SPS GPS Receiver

Standard Positioning Service GPS with an embedded 12-channel Selective Availability Anti-Spoofing Module (SAASM).

03

Jam-Resistant

Impervious to jamming in inertial mode, maintaining pointing accuracy when GPS is degraded or denied.

04

Combat-Proven

More than 1,500 PNUs / UPNUs fielded and forward deployed across MLRS and HIMARS programs.

05

Embedded Built-In Test

Continuous BIT simplifies fault isolation, reduces mean time to repair, and keeps units mission-ready.

06

No Periodic Calibration

Eliminates recurring calibration downtime for lower total cost of ownership over the unit's service life.

07

High Reliability

High MTBF and low mean time to repair (MTTR), backed by three decades of fielded system experience.

08

Common Architecture

Shares architecture and components with the Paladin, PIM, Firefinder, and IPADS system family.

09

Growth Capability

Designed for ready adaptation and optimization to current and future weapon systems or sensors requiring precision pointing and positioning.
